Management of Hospitals
The Bureau is given the mandate to manage the activities of forty five (45) Cottage, Specialist and General Hospitals spread across the sixteen (16) Local Government Areas of the State.
The Essential Drug Project
This is placed under the managerial purview of the Bureau. It is a project under the Hospital Management Bureau that deals with drug revolving scheme, the procurement and distribution of drugs and consumables across all health facilities, and also with the supply of Laboratory reagents and other forms.
Staff Discipline, Posting and Transfer
It is the duty of the Bureau to discipline, carry out postings and transfer of health workers within the forty-five (45) hospitals in the State.
The hospital drug formulary
The first hospital drug formulary in Kwara State was initiated and put to use to control the inflow of drugs and consumables into hospitals and to ensure consistent distribution across all hospitals. The formulary was compiled by a formulary committee (a representative of all cadres of health personnel) working within Kwara State Public Hospital System.
Preparation of Officers due for Promotion
The Hospital Management Bureau prepares health officers who are due for promotion in the hospitals under their jurisdiction.
Monitoring and Evaluation
The monitoring and performance evaluation of the forty five (45) hospitals in the State rests on the shoulders of the Bureau.
