About Us

Welcome to the Kwara State Hospital Management Board

As a strategy to improve service delivery in hospitals in the state, the Kwara State Government established two new Agencies to manage state-owned hospitals. Namely; Kwara State Hospital Management Board (KWSHMB) and the Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA).

Our Team

The executive of the Bureau composed of a Director General, and three (3) other full-time Directors appointed from the Senatorial districts of the State as stated below: Their contract appointment for a period of five years took effect from August, 2014.

Eight other members representing interest groups are included in the Board as part time Members. The Board was inaugurated by the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Health on Wednesday, 18th February, 2015.

Departments

The Board has the mandate to only 45 Cottage, Specialist, and general Hospitals spread across the sixteen (16) Local Government Areas of the State.

Staffing

The Board is staffed with various cadres of staff posted or deployed to it from the Office of Head of Service, Accountant General and other relevant agencies of Government. Employment/replacement of health workers into the hospitals has always been a collaborative effort between the bureau and the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
